What happens at an LLL meeting?

In LLL Collective, we believe breastfeeding and chestfeeding is a team effort! We welcome breastfeeding/chestfeeding mothers and parents to our meetings as well as their supporters. 

Meetings are free for everyone. 

At an LLL meeting you’ll find a Leader (or Leaders) who are internationally accredited, trained breastfeeding counsellors. LLL Leaders are volunteers who have breastfed their own children.

We often start the meeting with a chance for everyone to introduce themselves and ask any specific questions they may have. Many people just come for tea and company and it’s absolutely fine not to have a specific problem or question you want to ask. In fact we love it when families come to meetings long term and pass their breastfeeding and parenting wisdom on to others! 

We may then discuss as a group any topics raised by attendees and other common breastfeeding topics that may be of interest to everyone. We invite everyone to share their experiences and knowledge but there is no requirement to speak if you’d rather just listen. 

Babies and children are welcomed to the meeting and you are encouraged to do what you need to meet your children’s needs such as playing with them, changing nappies, walking around the room. It’s relaxed and friendly and noise is not a problem!

There’s usually hot drinks and cake or biscuits and the chance to chat to others. We often bring a small library of breastfeeding resources you can borrow from if relevant to you.
